Why isn't the third sentence using the ne expletive after avant que? Avant que je puisse prendre mes billets...

I reckon it’s because the dreaded ”ne explétif” is only ever used in more formal sorts of writing (and in quizzes), and is hardly ever used in everyday conversation.
