Hello. I was doing a B1 writing exercise called "Spanish Cooking". Why is "but I struggled more with the tortilla." translated as "J'ai eu plus de mal" and not "J'ai eu plus DU mal"?

Writing exercise "Spanish Cooking"
This question relates to:French lesson "Avoir du mal à/avec = To have trouble, to struggle to/with (French Expressions with avoir)"
Asked 10 months ago
Bonjour Ayesha,
In French, after expressions of quantity (such as plus, beaucoup, peu, assez, etc.), the preposition used will be "de", not "du", "de la", or "des":
J'ai eu du mal avec la tortilla = I struggled with the tortilla
J'ai beaucoup de mal avec la tortilla = I struggled a lot with the tortilla
J'ai eu plus de mal avec la tortilla = I struggled more with the tortilla
I hope this is helpful.
Bonne journée !
