Would you ever say "regarder à" to mean "look at"? Or is the "at" implied?
Regarder (to watch, to look at) is a regular -er French verb.
Je regarde beaucoup de télé.I watch a lot of TV.
Qu'est-ce que tu regardes ?What are you looking at?

In French, "regarder" is a transitive verb:
Je regarde un film = I am watching a film
Il regarde la banque de données = He is looking at the database
However, you would use "regarder" + à [gauche/droite]":
Tu regardes à gauche et je regarde à droite = You look left and I look right
