"Plonk" in english means an "ordinary, cheap, possibly inferior" wine. It does not mean bad wine. Does "la piquette" mean bad, or inferior, or both ??

Just to confuse things some more, there are several possible alternative English translations in addition to the one given here:

Je fais le lit après que tu t'es levé.I'm making the bed after you've got [US: gotten] up.
The French can also be translated as:I'll make the bed after you get up.I'll make the bed after you've gotten up.I'll make the bed after you're up.

Could the following phrase given above:

Merci à Léa et Julie, sans l'aide desquelles rien n'aurait été possible

also be phrased as:

Merci à Léa et Julie, sans desquelles rien n'aurait pu etre possible

The following example is given above:

Voici la date à partir de laquelle la loi prend effet.

Would the following give essentially the same meaning?

Voici la date auquelle la loi prend effet.

Hi. Could 'sauf' have been used in "...mais il n'y avait rien d'autre à faire qu'à téléphoner au garage et attendre"?

Also, could 'rien de plus' be used instead of 'rien d'autre' or do they not mean the same thing?

I wrote cannelle  for cinnamon and was marked wrong  and changed to canelle, but in the dictionary it is spelt cannelle. Which is correct??

Why are these not inter-changeable?
