Bonjour Isaac,

In French, you can't use "pendre" to express hanging something (a frame/painting) to a wall as it sounds as if the frame/etc is "dangling freely". However, you do use use "accrocher", as Jim explained.

I hope this is helpful.

Bonne journée !

Bonjour Isaac,

You raise an interesting point.

Context, context, context    --  this is the key point, I think.

Pendre takes a sense of  "to suspend" "to hang up on, or from" perhaps with respect to curtains or washing on a line.

Accrocher takes a sense of "suspend from a hook" or attach or hitch together -- think Knitting perhaps.

In the context of the lesson my vote is with "accrocher" but I am looking forward to reading the comments of others or a staff expert.

Hope this is helpful.

Bonne journée

Jim
