Adjectif apposé?

Salut,

Je préfère la chaleur parce que je suis frileuse.

Mes questions:

1: Comment ça se fait que "descend" est suivi par "de" dans le text?

2: Je pense que "petit" est un adjectif apposé, mais où est le nom qu'il complète?

Merci

Hi Danielle,

1. This had me thinking ... we use the preposition 'de' after descendre ( and monter) when it indicates a change in measure like degrees in this instance.

Quand la température descend/monte  de quelques degrés = When the temperature goes down/goes up by a few degrees

You could also say -

Sébastien a grandi de plusieurs centimètres cette année Sebastian grew by several centimeters this year

Ma tante a grossi de 10kg pendant le confinement My aunt has put on 10 kg during the lockdown

2. Petit, here, refers to the speaker Luc who is a male.

Hope this helps!

Hi Danielle,

Happy to help, but are you aware that these questions can be answered by clicking on the text?

"petit"  --> "from being small/young"  "Descend"  "(by) several degrees"

Suggest you revisit the text, click and confirm my translation above.

Hope this helps.

Jim

Hi Danielle,

Just in addition to Cécile's post in the context of the queries, Anglophone may find it useful to think of the use of the English preposition "by" for "de".

This is suggested to make it easier for Anglophones to understand better in the context of the texts in the original query.

Hope this may help.
