Now that is bizarre!
Here are some examples which I hope will help a bit more:
Être = to be:
Je pense donc je suis = I think therefore I am
Je suis là = I am here
Suivre = to follow:
Je suis la parade = I follow the parade
Je suis la route indiquée = I follow the highlighted route
