The correct answer was auraient dû partir. Why not seraient dû partir ?

Hi C,
It is because the verb 'devoir' takes the auxiliary 'avoir' ( and not être) in compound tenses -
J'ai dû partir = I had to leave
J'avais dû partir = I had had to leave
J'aurais dû partir = I should have left
