Bonjour, j'ai une question. Pourquoi ce dit 'Je suis le Roi Soleil', c'est le Roi de Soleil, n'est-ce pas?

Hi Glen and David,

Le Roi Soleil is the Sun King

The king of the sun would anyway be -

Le Roi du soleil

De+le=du

As in:

Le roi de la jungle = The king of the jungle

Le roi de la danse = The king of the dance

But Louis XIV was known as

Le Roi Soleil

Could be wrong but I think Roi de Soleil would literally translate as King of Sun whereas Roi Soleil is just sun king with the usual french habit of inverting words.
