Bras vs. Branchement

Can you explain the difference?  When I looked up branch (of a river), my dictionary gave branchement.  This was not accepted in the context of this story.

Bonjour Frank,

Here's a definition for "branchement" from a well known - which is different to what you found: https://www.wordreference.com/fren/branchement

"Branchement" is usually for anything that connects to a plug, or to a specific network (water / electricity). When it is about the different branches of rivers, we usually talk about "bras".

I hope this is helpful.

Bonne journée !

Bonjour Frank,

"Un embrachement" is used to describe a road junction https://www.wordreference.com/fren/embranchement

I hope this is helpful.

Bonne journée !

I made a mistake.  The word I was thinking of was embranchement, not branchement.  My poor brain is a little untidy.
