We have had a look at your suggestions and have added 'au fil de' as an option to the sentence -
Indeed, through its turbulent history = En effet, au fil de son histoire turbulente
We have also added -
Après avoir flâné dans les rues pavées = after walking the cobbled streets
as it is acceptable for 'après avoir marché dans les rues pavées' but not in the case of 'parcourir' which is transitive -
après avoir parcouru les rues pavées
However, we don't accept 's'infiltre dans' as it has negative connotations which is not the case here.
In the future, if you could actually write the whole sentence it would help us enormously to find their place in the text but thank you for your suggestions.
