I would have expected devoir to be used here instead of avoir. Could someone clarify? Maybe I'm not understanding the tenses clearly. Thanks!

Bonjour Elysia,
Firstly, I have to confess to not having carried out the test.
The exercise relates to a recent retirement situation and the speculation that life will now become more relaxed without the imperative "to go to work".
So I see this as a "futur simple" form of avoir with aller and "(travailler) work" as the direct object. "Because I will not have to go to work"
