"Ce n'est que depuis quelques semaines que j'ai entendu parler de vous et de votre livre"

The sentence above is used by philosopher Martin Heidegger in his letter to Jean-Paul Sartre in 1945. Why did he use Le Passé Composé, though "depuis" is used?

It is possible to use depuis with the Perfect.

"It's only since some / several weeks that I heard talk of you and your book"

In the sense of "recently" The hearing took place and was a completed action then.
