Dance class lesson with dans Le or en

I have read your answer to Liz and it still is not clear concerning “why is using dans le to indicate being in an actual dance class wrong?”

According to the notes: “dans + article + noun is used to refer to an actual physical place.”

A “dance” class is not specific enough??

Hi Aurielle,

I have looked at the example in question -

I'm in dance class. I'll call you back = Je suis en course de danse, je te rappelle.

Here it clearly refers to the activity and not the room which makes the person unable to take the call.

So only 'en' is correct.

Hope this helps!
