In the first sentence, "Depuis que je suis petite fille, j'ai toujours adoré m'asseoir" why is the first half in present tense, and the second half passé composé?
Also, for the sentence, "les gracieuses ballerines qui se produisaient à l'Opéra," is "jouer" not an acceptable translation for perform?

- "Depuis que je suis petite fille" -> Le Présent is used with expressions such as "être petit(e)" or "avoir ... ans" because it implies a permanent/ongoing state rather than a one time completed action.
"..., j'ai toujours adoré m'asseoir au coin du feu" -> Le Passé Composé is used for expressions in the English Present Perfect (repeated actions). See link here: https://www.lawlessfrench.com/grammar/passe-compose/
- "jouer" is used for actors performing a play while "se produire" is best used for dancers/ballerinas.
Les acteurs ont joué dans un grand théâtre = The actors played in a big theatre
Les danseurs se sont produit à l'Opéra Garnier = The dancers performed at the Opéra Garnier
