How to differentiate between that and this when it come le and la
Hi Nedhina,
The only Kwiz question I could find relating to the girl was -
La fille est belle
Does it mean -
The girl is beautiful / A girl is beautiful / This girl is beautiful / That girl is beautiful
It is the first one 'using the article 'the' - The girl is beautiful
For the other possibilities it would be -
Une fille est belle = A girl is beautiful
Cette fille est belle = This girl is beautiful
Cette fille-là est belle = That girl is beautiful
Hope this helps but let me know if I have misunderstood your question.
Salut Nedhina,
The translation of la femme should be "the woman". To express the girl I would expect to see la fille.
So I suspect that there is an error. This can be reported here:- https://progress.lawlessfrench.com/contact-us
See these links for this / that
https://www.wordreference.com/fren/cette
Ce/cet/cette and ces = this/that and these/those (French Demonstrative Adjectives)
Bonne continuation
Jim
