I'm a little confused between l'autre + les autres vs d'autres + des autres.

Hi Ben,

l'autre is singular whereas les autres is plural.

J'ai deux amis, l'un est vieux et l'autre est jeune. -- I have two friends, one is young the other old.
Certains de mes amis sont vieux, les autres sont jeunes. -- Some of my friends are old, the others are young.

Hi Chris,

Thank you for your reply, however I'm not sure when to use l'autre or les autres as opposed to d'autres or des autres as they both seem to mean the other one(s)
