I used 'mas' for farmhouse which is what my dictionary said. Is this a word which is now out of date?

Hi Gill,

A 'mas' is a provençal farmhouse, so it is a regional difference.

Please take a look at the wiki page which you may find interesting -

Bonne Continuation!

Bonjour Gill,

Thank you for your question! 'un mas' is a correct French word although it specifically describes a traditional farmhouse situated in the Provence and Midi regions in France (not in Dordogne, I'm afraid). 'Ferme' is the more generic term.

I hope this is helpful.

Bonne journée !
