"il m'emmène avec lui"

The final statement of the story is completely in present tense. In U.S. English, the phrase after the comma would be either futur simple or futur proche. (I don't know if U.S. English has "near future" and "simple future".) I am sure I already know the answer, but do the French really keep it in present tense? Is it incorrect to say "il m'emmenerai avec lui" or "il va m'emmener avec lui"? Merci beaucoup.

Hi Don,

Could you not say in US English? -

next time he is taking me with him

as the present tense in French does translate -

I do and I am doing

You would say: Next time he's going to take me with him. -- Which exactly parallels the future proche in French.

We can say "next time he's taking me with him" in English, too. Or, some other examples: "You're taking me with you next time;" "she's driving next time;" "I'm paying next time."
