This relates to:
Ne ... jamais = Never (negation) -

Bonjour Stewart !

It's because the verb écouter takes a direct object in French, unlike in English:

écouter [quelqu'un] = to listen to [someone]
J'écoute ma mère.
I listen to my mother.
