Why is it "la maison" rather than "ma maison"?
La versus ma

Hi Kay,
The English given is :
I left my house a bit late
The possibilities given are :
je suis parti(e) de chez moi un peu tard
je suis parti(e) de la maison un peu tard
j'ai quitté la maison un peu tard
Equally, if you wanted to say -
I am going home
you could say -
Je rentre chez moi
Je rentre à la maison
a young child might say
à ma maison
but would be corrected.
Hope that helps!
