In another French course, some years ago, I was given the sentence :
"Ça fait trois ans que je l'ai, et je n'ai pour ainsi dire pas eu d'ennui avec."
This appears to end with a preposition. Is it wrong?

Hi Derek,
What you suggest is absolutely correct in everyday French speech; you will hear people saying this, but it is considered more elegant to avoid having prepositions at the end of a sentence.
I was taught somewhere along the line that the same is true with English but I think it is more acceptable.
Bonne Continuation !
In everyday French, you hear prendre avec also quite frequently.
