Pourquoi pas dire "franchir le premier pas"?

Est-ce que c'est simplement une question de niveau?

Bonjour Aaron,

‘Faire le premier pas’ is definitely the right expression in this context. ‘Franchir’ has more a meaning of ‘crossing over something’.

Je franchis le seuil de ta maison I cross the threshold of your house.

Ils franchissent un obstacle they go over an obstacle.

Il a franchi la ligne d’arrivée = he crossed the finish line.

Vous avez franchi le premier pas pour devenir astronaute = you made the first step to become an astronaut

I hope this is helpful.

Bonne journée !
