You explain the sound of é as the first half of the vowel in ‘name’. Why don’t you describe it as the vowel in english words like fit or in?
Pronunciation of é

The flaw in the above posts is that people in different parts of the anglophone world pronounce their vowels very differently eg as a received pronunciation-speaking Brit, I say é as in name and it sounds nothing like fit, in or bed. Much better to learn it by ear from a French person talking. There are myriad online resources eg French with Alexa, Comme une Française, French Today.
Bonjour Bo,
Anne's answer is very good. Could you let me know where on the site you found this explanation please? It would help to see if anything needs amending.
Merci et bonne journée !
Bonjour Bo K.
Try saying the English word "bed"
Concentrate particularly on the way you will say the letter "e"
This is how I learned to pronounce é.
Bonne continuation
Jim
