pronunciation question

In the example sentence "Le meilleur élève parle mieux français que moi." it really sounds to me like parle mieux becomes par lemieux, with the lemieux being very distinct. I've seen that before. Is there a reason for it?

Hi Justin, 

I did listen to the recording with the view to change if it was wrong but I can't find a fault with it. As you learn a new language, words often tend to melt into each other and you 'mishear' but that gets easier with time.
