Hi Sandra,

I have checked the question and it says -

Les enfants, n' ____ pas peur ! ( Children, don't be scared!)

and as it is addressed to a group of children the 'vous' form is correct and

n'aie pas peur !

is incorrect.

Tu and vous are used for three types of you

Bonne Continuation !

Hi Sandra,

I haven't been able to find the test that you are referring to.

What occurs to me however is that "aie" is second person singular but "ayez" is second person plural in Impératif mood.

So the latter would be in the more general sense.

Hope this helps.

(Edited as per Maarten's remark below):

As Jim already said:

N'aie pas peur! and N'ayez pas peur! are the two impaerative forms. The first is directed at a single person and the latter either at a single person (formal address) or to a group.

Not correct Chris, the ‘tu’ form of the imperative of ‘avoir’  is “aie”, as listed in the table, and used in the lesson in this example : Petit écureuil, n'aie pas peur !   (And ‘ayez’ for the vous form)

I think you may be thinking of subjunctive form of ‘tu’ for avoir, and have a typo for the plural form.

Sandra just missed the clue to using the plural form, or the distinction between them  - easily enough done, and the reason that testing is learning too !
