Rapporter ou apporter

"J'ai oublié de te rapporter tes lunettes !"

I struggle to understand why this means "I forgot to bring you your glasses!"

I thought the word used to express "bring" should have been "apporter" not "rapporter"

Bonjour Holly

I have pasted your reference below:-

"J'ai oublié de te rapporter tes lunettes !
- Cela ne fait rien, tu me les rendras plus tard.

I forgot to bring you your glasses!

- That's ok, you'll give them back to me later."  ->  This is the key to your query.

The item (lunettes) are being returned to where they came from ie. to the owner.

Rapporter  --> apporter de nouveau  --  to return (the item) back to where it was originally.

Hope this helps.

Jim
