‘Violet’ does change?

‘Violet’ does change?

I’ve noticed that ‘violet’ changes with gender and number too, despite being named after a real thing, like orange and rose.

Is this correct?

Hi Richard,

Good question!

In fact, the flower is, 'la violette' in French -

Ma fleur préférée est la violette My favourite flower is the violet

But the colour 'violet' has a feminine and a masculine and a plural version.

J'aime le violet , j'ai un canapé violet , une table violette et des rideaux violets I love the colour purple, I have a purple sofa, a purple table and purple curtains

Hope this helps!

Hi Astrid,

I cannot find this example in the lesson and it should be 'une jupe verte' so if you find this mistake please report it again.
