Hi Marylee,

To simplify matters, most cities do not have an article so you will use simply 'de' (= from ).

Je suis de Versailles = I am form Versailles

Je suis de Marseille = I am from Marseilles

Je suis de Paris = I am from Paris

Je suis de Lisbonne I am from Lisbon

But some have an article in front of them (so do lots of villages in France),

Le Havre, Le Caire ( Cairo) , La Rochelle, La Haye ( The Hague)

----> je viens du Havre, du Caire, de la Rochelle, de la Haye, etc.

Also you will use 'du, de la, de l', and des with countries as in the following Kwiziq lesson -

https://progress.lawlessfrench.com/revision/grammar/say-where-you-come-from-with-venir-de-d-du-des-country-state-region

Hope this helps!
