What is the difference between parce que and car?

Can they be used interchangeably, or is there some rule for when to use one or the other?

Bonjour Emily ! Literally "parce que" = because and "car" = for, and just like in English, "car" will therefore be considered as more elegant, but the meaning is the same :) Bonne journée !

Parce que can be used at beginning of a sentence. Not so for car which introduces a subordinate clause I believe?
