Why is there no article for Halloween?

Why is there no article for Halloween?

I went with "Le Halloween".

In my research, I found reference to an answer to a question that "Noël and Pâques don't have an article in front of them but the Saints days do". Is Halloween like Christmas and Easter (no article), and does this apply to other non-Saint holidays?

Hi Herb,

It is not a question of why but it is just the way things are with some religious festivals like Noël and Pâques which don't have an article.

Please take a look at this lesson about using prepositions with such terms which includes Hanoucca but not Halloween.

Using prepositions with celebration days, like Christmas

Halloween is a pagan American import that is growing in impact in France, I can't think of any others apart from Hanoucca which wouldn't have an article either.

Hope this helps!
