y vs là type of question
This question relates to:French writing exercise "I prefer going skiing"
Asked 5 months ago
Bonjour Shashank,
In French, "y" refers back to a previously mentioned place: here, it refers to the mountains.
J'aime la montagne. J'y vais tous les hivers. = I love the mountain. I go there every winter.
However, "là" refers to a rather vague place ("there" or "here", depending on context):
Ne t'inquiète pas ! Je serai là demain. = Don't worry! I will be here tomorrow.
Take a look here too:
I hope this is helpful.
Bonne journée !
