The question was to translate, "You will ask me for money...." but the correct answer was "vous demanderez DE...." not "vous demandez A". I thought when you ask someone for something it was "demander a"

To form Le Futur (Simple) of regular -er or -ir verbs, you keep the infinitive form of the verb and then add the following endings: -ai, -as, -a, -ons, -ez, -ont
Verbs like jouer or crier become je jouerai ou je crierai.
Even though we don't pronounce the "e", it is still there as part of the infinitive:

The correct expression is -
demander à quelqu'un de faire quelque chose = to ask someone to do something
so:
Il m'a demandé de lui donner de l'argent = He asked me to give him/her some money
Nous avons demandé aux enfants de se coucher tôt = We asked the children to go to be early

Please explain why this is so when the verb in the following sentence, taken from the lesson, the e is pronounced.:

The "e" in "joueront" or "crieront" (inherited from the infinitive as explained in the lesson) are not pronounced because they are placed after a vowel. In "voleront", the "e" is placed after a consonant, and must be pronounced. Hope this helps!
