Do quitter and Partir both mean to leave?

I was asked in a C1 test to complete the sentence, " Après....., ils se sont perdus". After leaving, they got lost.

I wrote, "Après avoir quitté, ils se sont perdus". It was marked incorrect. Why?

Surely quitter and partir can both mean to leave.

In a recent C1 test I was asked to complete the sentence, " Après........, ils se sont perdus."

After leaving, they got lost. I wrote, " Après avoir quitté, ils se sont perdus". My answer was marked as incorrect. Why?

D'animaux vs DES animauxWhy is it "Elle n'aime pas d'animaux" rather than "Elle n'aime pas DES animaux"? I didn't think that it mattered if the noun started with a vowel when it was plural; it would alway become "des" and the 's' would be pronounced in front of the vowel sound.

Agreement of Participle with Indirect Object

Whoops, my question was posted incomplete.

As I was saying (!), in the examples there is agreement between the indirect object and the participle:

La télé? Oui, Marc l'a regardée

Ces épisodes? Il les avait déjà vus

If this is the case, then shouldn't 'Tu lui as parlé' translate as 'You talked to him', BUT 'Tu lui as parlée translate as 'You talked to her'?

A more basic question:In the example "Ils attendent son arrivée d'une minute à l'autre" would the wording be different if the person awaited is female?

It looks like there's a problem in the third box (second green one). The text makes no sense.This doesn't make sense and it doesn't include any example!
