Use of 'auquel' / à qui instead of 'que'

In the lesson ‘Que = Whom, which, that (relative pronouns)’ an example sentence is given as:

‘La femme que je dessine’

An example sentence from this lesson is: ‘Le chat, auquel tu as fait peur’ OR ‘Le chat, à qui tu as fait peur’

I’m struggling to understand why is ‘Le chat, que tu as fait peur’ is not used?

Prescriptive versus descriptive EnglishI read the Q&A for this lesson on collective nouns and the discussion at https://progress.lawlessfrench.com/is-this-english-correct and I see where Kwiziq is coming from. However, it would clearer for many Engliish speakers if you left out the "how it is in English" versus "how it is in French" comparisons. There are too many interpretations of collective nouns in different forms of English, and many of us haven't learnt the English prescriptions, so we are probably making frequent mistakes in English. In other words, just give teach the French grammar.

Idionatic use of 'would 'Presumably one could translate into English using 'would': Eg 'We would go and see our grandmother on Sunday' carries the same sense of a repeated action that the imperfect does.

No retry on the quiz?The test saves my original answers, so when I do the quiz again (I did it two weeks ag), it doesn't matter if I correct myself from before, it saves the old answers. Is it supposed to be like that?

restaurantWould it be inappropriate to say 'ça y est' at a restaurant when they ask you if you have finished your meal? Or would that sound like you are saying it was difficult to finish, but I finally did it (perhaps being offensive)?

Do quitter and Partir both mean to leave?

I was asked in a C1 test to complete the sentence, " Après....., ils se sont perdus". After leaving, they got lost.

I wrote, "Après avoir quitté, ils se sont perdus". It was marked incorrect. Why?
