Our French neighbours have told us to use "tu" When asking if they have been away would you use vous as you are speaking to them as a couple? bit unsure on this

Il faut qu'ils sachent conduireJust to test it. Is the rule as follows. If these verbs are preceded with something like il faut subjuntive, if not and positive, indicative, if not and negative subjunctive, subjunctive? Eg il faut qu'ils sachent conduire, ils savent conduire, ils ne sachent pas conduire. Correct or not please?

La veille vs. Le jour d'aprèsHere is the sentence in question: "The day before, I had written him a letter." Why is "Le jour d'après" in this context wrong and "La veille" correct? I couldn't, for the life of me, apply the explanation given in the corresponding lesson to this problem. Can someone help?

Use of "en" to indicate "it" - one of something.I've become comfortable thinking of "en" as "some" or "some of them" as in your example "Il m'en a offert." But it's use as "it" in "Elle leur en a parlé" is throwing me. Why "en" and not "Elle la/le leur a parlé" ?

Avoir + Transitive & Etre + IntransitiveSo in general, when a verb is both transitive and intransitive, we should use avoir with the transitive version, and when applicable, use etre with the intransitive version?
