Prepositions"Marie est retournée le voir le lendemain" - how come there's no preposition ("pour", say) following retournée here, which the lesson says should always follow retourner when conjugated with être?

Along the lines of the "ce que" versus "quel" question...Along the lines of the "ce que" versus "que" question, must the question "Ce qui fait peur ici?" always begin with "ce que" because the answer is unknown (not mentioned previously?) even though it refers to a noun and not a phrase/sentence? If so, when can a question begin with Quel? Only if the answer was already mentioned?

Please explain using des/de in "on saura qu’il y a des reines autant qu’il y a de femmes"In the phrase "on saura qu’il y a des reines autant qu’il y a de femmes", why do we say "des reines", but "de femmes" (why not "des femmes")?

How do we express "to make someone late?"The Week One B2 writing challenge used "mettre" rather than "faire" to say when something (a taxi) made me late ("m'a mis en retard"). Is there a lesson with some examples on using mettre? Thanks.
