Aimer bien/plaire

Bonjour à tous et à toutes

Est-ce que quelqu'un peut me dire quelle est la différence entre les deux phrases suivantes svp:

Martin aime bien Sarah

Sarah plaît à Martin

I'm sure there must be some subtle difference!

Merci,

Nick

Hi Nick,

These verbs to describe feelings between two people have very different meanings -

Aimer bien means simple liking whereas plaire is fancying, more of a sexual attraction.

Hi Nick,

Aimer = to love, like something / someone%252Fsearch%253Fs%253Daimer

See above.

Plaire can take the meaning "to like"      but for a more complete explanation just use the search facility (little magnifying glass at the top of the page) and this will take you to the appropriate lesson.

This is what I did to search for "aimer" above.

Hope this helps.

Jim
