Des, de l' or l'

"When I have some money" is translated into "de l'argent". Why is it not "Des argents" or simply "l'argent"?

Bonjour NA

I find the quoted lesson very comprehensive, but I can offer a way of thinking about the point you make. When it is said or written l'argent, without context this could refer to all the l'argent in the world.

We know that is not what is meant, but to be clear; we write some de l'argent to clarify that what is meant is some, not all.

I hope that you find this helpful.

Bonne continuation

Jim
