Hot and sunny

How would you say:   "It is hot and sunny?"

Il fait chaud et il y a du soleil?

NB I don't understand why in French hot is an adjective and sunny is a noun...

Hi L,

You could say -

Il fait beau et chaud

You might also be interested in the following answer on how to describe it's warm in French -

You can also use "il fait du soleil" if that makes more sense to you. Il y a can be used for things like "il y a du vent," too, but I usually use the "il fait" for most weather types.

In "il y a du soleil" you're  not using sunNY as a noun, just "sun," ie "there is some sun"
