I just can’t get this right. It’s the word order that confounds me. Please explain the required word order

Il rappelle son ex à Marie. -- He reminds Marie of her ex.

I don't really know how to say it any more clearly than the lesson does (I don't even have color available to illustrate). But the difference is that the person being reminded comes last in French, whereas it is next to last in English. Their order is reversed.
