pourquoi pas "je n'y manquerais pas pour rien au monde"? does manquer not work here ? i thought this was a standard phrase to use.

Bonjour Nicole,
"Manquer" is indeed a correct option. However, using the preposition "y" is not right here. The English pronoun "it" is "le Festival de Cannes" as an event (i.e. a direct object pronoun) and not a location (Y can replace à + [thing/object/location] (French Adverbial Pronouns)

Je n'y ne le manquerai pas = I wouldn't miss it

vs
Tu vas au Festival de Cannes ? - Non, je n'y vais pas ! = Are you coming to the Cannes festival? - No, Iam not going there!
