Tense shift

Can someone please clarify why the tenses jump from imperfect to present in the final sentence? Thanks!

Bonjour Anne,

This particular exercise is an extract from a novel. The use of Le Present following the use of L'Imparfait is a rather modern stylistic choice. It is true that it does ring a little strange...

We've decided to change the tenses in this last bit to be more inkeeping with the rest of the text. Bear with us while we're making the changes ;-)

I hope this is helpful.

Bonne journée !
