I was told you always use vous until the French native speaker uses tu with you. If you are talking to a close friend, tu is fine but vous is better in most settings.

tu is for you when is one person and vous is for more then one oersone it used to express more then ine oersone
Vous is for when your addressing multiple people but you would probably also use it for if your talking to a teacher or boss, cause it’s formal. But Tu is singular and less formal.
