Use of subjunctive after après que?

Hi, nice passage. I thought that the indicative tense is used after "après que" while the subjection with the expletive "ne" is used after "avant que." Could you please clarify as the past subjunctive is used after "après que" in the text. Merci !

Hi Susan,

If you take a look at this answer to the same question below, Aurélie has explained that it is an error that even well educated French people commit on a regular basis as it is a bit of an idiosyncrasy but it has now been corrected.

Well done to you for noticing !
