Can you please explain why we us de le together. I have always been told you must never use de le together. You can use du, de l' or de la. This is a first for me.

Why are putting de le together?
This question relates to:French writing exercise "10 house rules for children"
Asked 6 months ago
Hi Sue,
I think I have found the sentence -
essaie de le nettoyer toi-même = try and clean it yourself
using essayer de + le ( it = object pronoun) + verbe
Here, as there is no noun after the preposition de it would not make sense to contract de and le.
You will in sentences like :
Je viens du travail = I have just come back from work
and not
Je viens de le travail
Elle est partie du restaurant = She has left the restaurant
and not
Elle est partie de le restaurant
Hope this helps!

Salut Sue,
Definite articles contract with à and de in French (French Contracted Articles)
I can't see where de le is being used in your query -- perhaps you can give an example of where you saw this usage.
Bonne journée
Jim
