why "aux côtés de"?

Why "aux côteś de mon époux" instead of "à côté de mon époux" ?

Hi Carl,

The difference between the two expressions is -

être à côté de = to be nearby

être aux côtés de = to be by somebody's side / to be side by side

The hint told me to spell out the year in letters, then I was marked incorrect for not writing it in numerals.
