Plaire à vs aimer

Don't know about other people but I would really appreciate a section in the lesson on when to use "aimer" and when to say "plaire à". Great lessons individually on how to use these two expressions but not on when or why one is used instead of the other. Merçi!

Can I skip the cities/countries lessons till later?I've been doing your excellent course for almost a week. For me, the dynamic algorithmic quizzes are a superb feature. I believe in "Active recall", as used in Anki.

I'm still in the "initial enthusiasm" stage, where I try to take maximum advantage of the initial surge, before gradually levelling off to a normal rate.

On today's dashboard, I notice that there are five recommended lessons relating to countries, cities, and so on.

I'm striving to think of a reason why it would be great to know, for example, "la Cornouailles". I suppose if I were in France, and someone asked me if I came from "la Cornouailles", I could say "Oui", or possibly "Non".

I've worked in five countries having five different language. (That's why I now speak and write very short sentences. Sorry about that.) I don't recall ever needing to know the name of a different country, or a town in a different country.

So, is it possible for me to simply postpone these lessons until later? Would that screw up my Dashboard? If I do the quizzes quickly by giving the first anwer that occurs to me, would that confuse the bot?

Déscendre and monter.. I just can’t get to grips with these two in the passé composé with Avoir and être… I struggle to get the difference between the examples in the lesson and then struggle even more in the quizzes! Is there a trick to understanding the difference between the two versions? Thank you

Is avoir à a possible alternative to devoir?

Can avoir à ever be used instead of devoir? For example j'ai à vous remercier instead of je dois vous remercier.

Manquer àJ'ai toujours eu du mal avec ce verbe. Je me demande si je pouvais y aller un pas plus loin et dit <Jean me manque et Jean manque à moi>? J'aimerais savoir si les deux sont correcte? Let's avoid them an awkward situation

The subject text was part of a recent pronouns exercise.

As I understand it the use of the imperative voice was being tested and I wrote "évitons-les" which was incorrect and the correct answer was "évitons-leur" .

I don't understand this because the verb éviter is transitive not intransitive?

I would like to understand why the correct answer is not évitons-les?
