I'm a bit confused as to when to use, "mal," and when, "mauvais," as they both mean, bad. What are the rules or nuances?

Agreement of froidWhy is it not nous avions eu froids instead of nous avions eu froid. Is froid not an adjective here? In so many of the other examples there is agreement. What is the difference?

Please add that when using the verb être the Partitive doesn't change For example: Ce sont des poires. ----> Ce ne sont pas des poires.
