près de / au coin deNous avons mis la hanoukkia ________ la fenêtre. I thought 'au coin de' meant by/near. In retrospect 'près de' sounds better. But why can't 'au coin de' be used in this case? Is it only used for placement in a room or by a building (geographical) vs by a person or object? Thanks!

avoir + montéThe lesson says that "J'ai monté mon cheval" means "I mounted my horse" and that avoir + monté means "to mount something". In the test it asks what the meaning is of "'Lucas a monté la nouvelle armoire de sa soeur.'' I selected "Lucas got on his sister's new wardrobe" as one of the possible meanings (to me, "got on" means generally the same thing as "mounted", though "getting on" a wardrobe seems like an odd thing to say). Anyway, that answer was marked as incorrect. I don't understand why. Could you help?

Je n’ai jamais aimé le goût de la viandeHello. In your week 26 A2 writing test the above line is given as a correct translation of 'I've never liked the taste of meat.' As this lesson shows I believe there may be an error here. In this context the verb describes an ongoing state of affairs, without a set start and without a set finish, (if indeed this state does end.) Unless I'm mistaken I believe this would be better expressed in the imparfait. I'd love some clarification here if possible. Thanks!

PronunciationI am unsire about the pronunciation of several forms of "avoir". Sometimes [a] dominates and sometimes [e], for example "que j'aie" is [kəʒe] but "avoir" is [avwaʁ]. How is "que nous ayons" pronounced?

Just a thought!The words in these two phrases "de moins en moins de" and "de plus en plus de" are similar to the letters in words like radar, noon, and civic. They read the same backwards and forwards.

Les lui, Les leur...when using passe compose...does the past participle change?

Hi,

I am seeing the past participle agreeing in number, adding "s" when I see les lui or les leur

What do I need to know about the status of the past participle in an example such as... "Nous les leur avons montrés."
